Umbrella Newsletter # 54

Dear Colleagues,

Season’s Greetings to everyone! Now, when we are getting into the festive season with a carousel of holidays, one can’t help but picking up the fairy tale mood.  Let the “fairy tale” concept help us not only enjoy this glorious time, but make us “richer, more prosperous” (at least in the field of EFL Methodology) teachers! J

What makes a fairy tale? The internet has many lists, but universal points are: good vs bad, a lesson, fantasy characters (including elves, fairies, forests, castles, etc), somebody in distress and Magic! Look around – we have plenty of that in life. Are you (according to C. S. Lewis) “old enough to start reading fairy tales again”?  “Do you believe in fairies? … If you believe clap your hands”. (James M. Barrie Peter Pan.)
