The languor of summer days, a few bridge holidays and a recent trip to the gastronomical capital of the world, Lyon, inspired me to choose a “culinary” topic for this issue of the Umbrella Newsletter. In fact, there is an on-going discussion whether teaching, medicine, management, cooking are arts, sciences, professions or all the three. I think that these professions belong to ART, not only because “art involves the systematic application of theoretical knowledge and personal skills to achieve desired results” as theoreticians say, but primarily because you could have an excellent cookbook or detailed lesson plan and practically similar “ingredients”, but the result will depend on the person - on you!
Sharing recipes, trying new links, creating your own cookbook could be a very entertaining pastime in summer and will lead you into autumn fully equipped with new ideas. We hope that you will be able to join us and share in our passion for the pleasures of ELT.
